The method I prefer is to use the mk 4 golf original engine mounts fitted to brackets on the chassis legs as this method also allow the engine to move backwards and upwards as was originally how VW made the mk 4 Golf. The UK tuners have approached the issue from another direction, JBS auto designs have used Polo 9n engine mounts by modifying the chassis legs and suspending the engine a VAG intended. DSP Tuning in france also supply a simmilar kit starting from 500.00 euros however they can also supply you with a down pipe and full exhaust system. Salzmann tuning supply the kit for 500.00 euros and it comes with a handy TUV certificate. The most popular way to mount the engine is using modifyed brackets between the OE polo mounts and the engine and the gearbox. There is little information on using the subframe in its entirety however a bloke is selling a Polo VR6 in the for sale section of this forum. I havent really looked it using a VR6 subframe as the mk3 golf has an identical subframe to the mk 2 Golfand therefore very different to the Polo. The reasons I am off line at night is because I use the computer at work during the day as I have a cushty job! Not because I am ignorant, also my wife is due to drop any day now so I may be a little preoccupied. Paul.in all honesty.i need your help mate. Who will fabricate some driveshafts for me too!? The downpipe is least of my worries really, and so is the wiring.as long as i have the A pillar forwards in the donor car.it should be a straight swap, its just making bits fit from a bigger car.into mine! I've been advised to use the pulley off the golf mk4 power steering pump, and fit it onto my exsisting polo pump.thus able to use the same belt to drive it. Shall i use an oil filter relocation kit? Then theres.which intercooler do i use? do i need a slimline radiator? How about the brake servo/master cylinder? apparently stealth racing relocated Jamies one in his ex-16v (R4BBY) to the rear of the car.not sure how that works? Especially if i need to use a larger one to compensate for larger discs.between 280mm G60 ones or 310mm Brembo's. The car it will be going into is a polo 16v from 1997 P plate.Ĭan i use a mk3 VR6 subframe? i'm hoping i can, cos thats how the guys would normally do a VR6 swap into a mk4 polo at dubsport.or JBS would use it for a G60 conversion i suppose. My main concern would really be how i can fit the pedal box out of a golf mk4, which is the choice of donor.an AGU 180bhp lump kept standard. You've been seriously researching this conversion haven't you, i'd really like to know what you know regarding this whole thing mate.if your free in the evenings and use msn, let me know.i did add 'a' paul wright.whether its you, i donno but they dont answer me when i say hello.

Ok now heres the voice i was waiting to hear from for so long!! paul you are one guy thats hard to get a hold of. Do not cut and weld the driveshafts as this is an instant MOT failiure.ĭont worry too much about the ignition barrell as this can be placed elsewhere if it doesnt fit. Custom driveshafts will be needed as the length of the shorter driveshaft needs to be shortened. With regards to the driveshfts you will need to use the inner CV joint from whichever gearbox you use and the Polo outer CV joints. The mk 4 Golf clocks are a direct fit into 1998 onwards polos as VW changed the clock assembly from 1998, however dont bother using a mk5 Polo dashboard as the clocks are completely different (like the lupo) then link with hoseĢ: Fit a seat actuator to the gearbox which converts clutch cable to hydrolic actuation. With the clutch actuation you have two options:ġ: fit a passat pedal assembly with the hydrolic clutch actuator. You will need the shifter assembly aswell. Dont bother sourcing a G60 box, it is easier to use a mk3 golf GTI gearbox as these are cheaper and more available than the G60 unit and has the same ratios as the mk4 GTI gearbox.
